2-week trip in Croatia and Slovenia in June 2018

After meeting Greg at Gorizia Centrale Station in Italy, just 10 minutes from Spicy Campers home base on the other side of the border in Slovenia, our holiday was smooth sailing and a lot of fun. Greg made everything so easy... from how to use the camper, to where to go, how to get there and so on.
With only 2 weeks for our road trip, we had planned to spend the majority of time in Croatia and the last few days in Slovenia. However, due to the mass tourism in Croatia, we decided to turn around at Zadar and head to the Triglav National Park in Slovenia via Istria.
In Istria, there is a fantastic camp ground in Icici with spectacular views, just between Opatija and Lovran, where you can go hiking in UCKA National Park and/or walk the promenade between the seaside towns.
From there, on the way to Slovenia, we visited two amazing hill top towns, Motovun and Grisignano. You can camp just outside the walls of Motovun and walk up into the town for dinner and a tour, and the following day visit Grisignano, a medieval hilltop town known as Artist Town. This part of the trip in Croatia was a lovely escape from the busy overcrowded coastal towns in Croatia and a great way to break up the drive back to Slovenia.
Although we enjoyed both Krka and Parklenica National Parks in Croatia, our experience of the Triglav National Park in Slovenia was exceptional. Not only did Slovenia take our breath away from the sheer beauty around every corner, but the atmosphere there was exciting and energising. It was less crowded than Croatia and everyone was into life, enjoying the multitude of activities on offer... making the most of every moment in a place that I would describe as heaven on earth.
Since we only had 4 nights in Slovenia, we started in a wonderful little campground near Tolmin called Gabrije, visiting the Tolmin Gorge and finishing with white water rafting in Bovec, stopping in Kobarid on the way, where we rode mountain bikes to Dreznica and hiked to Kozjak waterfall... a must see!
Thanks to the comfortable, practical and affordable Spicy Camper from Greg and Irina, we had a truly wonderful holiday and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves an adventure.
